It may seem like a daunting task, but we are here to guide you through the process. We are registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) to provide home care for older people over 65 years of age, people who have mental health problems, and those with learning or physical disabilities.
By giving us a call, we can help understand your needs and answer any questions you may have about our services. Your call will initially come through to our Director - Lee Smith. He will send you an information pack that will include our client guide, CQC Summary Report, price list and terms and conditions of service.
Then, if you would like to meet us and the need for the care is not urgent, he would ask that fellow Director - Emma King - comes to meet with you first, to start to get to know you and what kind of care - and carer - you are looking for.
Our care manager, Claire, will come and do a home assessment with you. This could take a couple of hours so you might want to do this over two meetings. This will mean we can fully understand and document your needs and the type of care you want to receive.
It is always a good idea if the assessment includes a member of your family or other close friend, as we believe in working as part of a team, with the client at the centre. We will seek your written consent to speak to any other health and social care professionals, friends or relatives about your needs and care.
Following our meeting with you, we will put together a care plan. This includes an overview of care needs and a detailed plan of what you need your care assistant is to help you with. We will ask you to sign this care plan and also our terms and conditions of service at this stage.
We will never allocate a carer to you who we wouldn't trust to look after our own children or parents, and who we wouldn't trust to be in our own homes and around all of the precious and sentimental things we all accumulate over the years. We will have listened carefully to the type of carer you might like, but sometimes, because we are all human, the match just isn't quite right - that's OK, we can always try a different carer. Your care manager will complete visits with you too, so we can understand better what it is like to work alongside you and be inside your home.
Our care manager will be in frequent contact with you - at least every two months but more often at the beginning stages of the care to make sure we have your feedback as to how things are going.
I am looking for support myself
After you have contacted Kingsmith Care, one of our Care Managers will visit you in your home, where we will talk to you about your individual home care needs. Although we are a Hammersmith & Fulham home care agency, we prefer to visit you in your home as this is largely where we will help you. If you would like to have someone else, like a family member, a friend or other representative with you for this meeting, that’s fine with us – we’d be happy to meet them!
We may also need to obtain information from your Doctor or another professional who is involved in your care. This is so we can build up a full picture of your needs. After this visit, we will draw up a plan of care with you, which will list the help we have agreed to provide and when we will provide it.
Copies of all of our paperwork, including your contract, will be given to you to keep at home. We will then allocate a care worker to work with you. As far as possible we will try to make sure the same person works with you most of the time. Your care plan will be reviewed two weeks after we start work with you, at three monthly intervals and as the need arises.
How much will it cost me?
The cost of the service to you depends on the type of care that you need. Please call us to discuss your needs so we can give you a realistic idea of the costs involved.
What paperwork can I expect from you?
Please feel free to read our sample contract, setting out our client terms and conditions and also our client guide.
I am looking for home care for a friend or family member
We have ten years of experience working one to one with clients and in conjunction with neighbours, friends and family members. Please say when you contact us if you are calling on behalf of someone else. Where a Lasting Power of Attorney is in place we will need to see evidence of this. We can work alongside neighbours, friends and relatives and share information, providing explicit consent is given by the person who the care plan is for. We find the very best care is when everyone is working to the same goal – usually to keep the client at home, independent, safe and dignified, for as long as they choose.

Hi, I’m Edel.
I enjoy assisting people with things they cannot, to ensure they live a life that is dignified, comfortable and meaningful. It is an incredibly rewarding experience. My specialism is Dementia, particularly those who can be a bit volatile or aggressive. There is also great satisfaction when you are able to get through to them and they allow you to take care of them. They’re still inside, it just takes time and care for them to come out.
“They show me respect. They are all very
pleasant.”
